One day I found myself wondering about how one might conceivably explain the Star Trek technology which allows subspace fields to "reduce" the mass of a ship while still allowing for energy and momentum conservation (I was bored, okay!).

This lead me to consider various other energy and momentum related questions concerning subspace and warp fields in general (yes, I was still bored).

Finally, I decided to write about my thoughts so I could rationalize my ideas to others (Okay, that went beyond boredom and moved towards the "get a life" category, I agree).
